Take all of your previous ideas about underground live entertainment in NYC and toss them out the window. Let your inhibitions follows those ideas out the same window. Then, imagine a place where rock ‘n’ roll scenesters, trendy fashionistas, the GLBT crowd, and adventurous tourists clash looking for an edgy night in NYC. On the last Sunday of every month at the Fortune Cookie Lounge, Subgum intends to fulfill all of your wildest fantasies of good old-fashioned trashy punk rock fun.
“Squeezebox! (from the ‘90’s) was a great party. I wanted to bring back the feeling of it,” explains Temptress, lead singer of the Subgum house band, who fronts her own band, also called Temptress, and creator of Subgum. “It was always packed with scenesters, celebrities, rockers, gays, trannies, everyone just having a good time. We need fun shows like this one,” she adds.
Subgum features various acts all night long, guest DJs, comedians, entertainers, live punk bands, and the Subgum Go-Go Dancers. “We want this to be a nonstop trashy punk rock ‘n’ roll party, “ Temptress proclaims.
The first Subgum party is coming on Sunday, June 29th at 8pm. The Fortune Cookie Lounge is located downstairs from the World famous Lucky Cheng’s Drag Cabaret and Dinner Theatre at 24 First Avenue, New York, NY.
